Agrocafé del Caribe is INDUBAN’s agricultural unit located in Hato Mayor del Rey, specifically along the road to El Valle, in Hato Mayor Province. The farm is situated at elevations ranging from 200 to 450 meters above sea level and covers approximately 1,100 hectares (17,600 tareas). Of this area, 350 hectares are dedicated to coffee cultivation, while the remainder is used for cattle grazing, cacao, citrus crops, and extensive forest areas dedicated to the conservation of aquifers, flora, and fauna. This natural environment is home to a variety of bird and wildlife species.

GENETIC MATERIAL AND PROPAGATION

The farm cultivates the Coffea canephora species (Robusta and Conilon), characterized by its high production potential per unit of area. The farm operates experimental fields focused on genetic improvement, with vegetative propagation through cloning and its own nursery. These efforts focus on selecting materials with higher productivity, agronomic uniformity, and greater resistance to climate change.

Agronomic management follows the principles of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), with a focus on environmental sustainability and the responsible use of agricultural inputs.

INFRASTRUCTURE, MECHANIZATION AND IRRIGATION SYSTEM

Field operations are supported by advanced agricultural machinery for the mechanization of farming activities, as well as an irrigation system that ensures productivity and the desired level of uniformity while promoting the responsible use of water resources.

The farm has its own Wet and Dry Processing Facilities for the comprehensive processing of harvested coffee.

It is an agricultural unit located in the mountains of Rancho Arriba, in San José de Ocoa, Dominican Republic, at elevations ranging from 700 to 1,250 meters above sea level. The farm consists of three (3) areas totaling approximately 500 hectares (8,000 tareas).

GENETIC MATERIAL AND PROPAGATION

The farm cultivates the Coffea arabica (Arabica) species. In addition to producing exceptionally high-quality coffee, the farms primarily serve as centers for plant production and research, with their own nurseries dedicated to developing and adapting new varieties for subsequent distribution throughout the country. These efforts establish the farms as a reference for Dominican coffee farming in terms of high-productivity varieties, cup quality, and the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).

Currently, the farm has more than 20 coffee varieties undergoing observation and adaptation to local climatic and soil conditions.

PROCESSING INFRASTRUCTURE

Field operations are partially mechanized and supported by an irrigation system, ensuring productivity.

The farm has its own Ecological Coffee Processing Facility for the wet processing of harvested coffee.

With AGROCAFÉ DEL CARIBE & CAFETALERA DEL SUR, Industrias Banilejas reaffirms its commitment to the sustainable production of specialty coffee,
integrating technology, genetic research, and environmental responsibility into every stage of its operations.
